Experience
Did you know that the Mayor of Redmond is a full-time position? Indeed it is. That is why managerial experience counts in this election. I have ten years of top level management experience as the Finance Director of Meydenbauer Center to go with my ten years of local government experience. My 10 years of professional experience in local government includes working on budget and finance, capital projects, water quality, water supply and economic development. My work includes service for several local governments in our region including the cities of Snoqualmie, Kent, and Federal Way, and the King County Budget Office. Currently, I serve as the Director of Finance and Administration at Meydenbauer Center (Bellevue Convention Center). This work includes human resources, information technology, economic development, and business modeling. I have implemented large changes to our software system and a customer service program to retain clients. I won my first election in 2003, when I ran for the Redmond City Council. In my first two years on the Council, I chaired the Planning and Public Works Committee. Currently, I chair the Finance and Public Administration Committee. I worked with my colleagues to change the budget process so that citizens know what they receive for their tax dollars. I also worked to limit the growth of the operating budget so that the City lives within its means. When you turn on the faucet at home, you expect clear, clean drinking water. I represent the City of Redmond on the Cascade Water Alliance Board to ensure a drinking water supply for Redmond for next 50 years and beyond. As a member of the Executive Committee and chair of the Public Affairs Committee, I advocate for improving water quality and keeping water in streams and rivers to enhance fish habitat. My experience of ten years in local government and ten years as CFO of Meydenbauer Center means I will be an effective Mayor immediately. Resume
